Anoushka Gourmet

We’re located in Andheri West, right by Akshar Chowk at number 6. Anoushka Gourmet started because we just liked making good food. It’s not a huge factory or a fancy restaurant with waiters in ties. It’s more of a place where things are prepared carefully. The kitchen gets really warm in the afternoons, and the smell of spices usually drifts out into the street. We do a lot of gourmet snacks and items that people pick up on their way home. Akshar Chowk is a landmark that everyone around here knows, so we get a lot of foot traffic. We don't use any big fancy machines for everything; a lot of it is still done by hand because it just tastes better that way. Sometimes we run out of certain items early in the day and people get a bit disappointed, but we'd rather sell fresh stuff than things that have been sitting around. The staff here is just a few local people who know their way around a stove. We don't have a big mission statement on the wall. We just make the food, pack it up, and sell it across the counter. It’s a bit messy sometimes, especially when a big order comes in, but we manage. People seem to like what we’re doing, and that’s enough for us. It’s just a small local business trying to feed the neighborhood something a bit different than the usual. We’re just here cooking.
