Ami Computer Clinic

Our little shop is at No. 26 in Sarswati Chawl, over in Hanuman Nagar, Kandivali East. It is a typical Mumbai spot, a bit crowded and always something going on outside on the street. We call it a computer clinic because that is mostly what we do—fix up laptops and PCs that have decided to stop working. The space inside is quite small, mostly filled with spare parts, monitors, and tools scattered around. It is not the most organized looking place, but we know where everything is. People from around the chawl and the rest of Hanuman Nagar bring us their broken screens or machines that won't start up. We just sit there and work through the problems one by one. There is no fancy reception area, just a counter where you drop your stuff off. We talk to our customers like neighbors because that is what most of them are. Sometimes the repairs take a day, sometimes longer if we need a specific part from the market. We do not use a lot of technical jargon if we can help it; we just tell you what is wrong and what it will cost to fix. It is honest work in a busy part of Mumbai. We just keep our heads down and get the computers running again.
