Akshay Creations Pvt. Ltd. is based at 11R, Laxmi Industrial Estate, on New Link Road in Andheri(W). Being in an industrial estate means there is always a lot of noise—machines running, people shouting, and vehicles idling. Our unit, 11R, is where we do all our creative and production work. It’s not exactly a quiet office environment. There are always piles of fabric and patterns lying around, and the smell of industrial machines is pretty much stuck in the walls. Andheri(W) is a busy hub, and the New Link Road area is especially packed. We spend a lot of our time just managing the production schedule and making sure the machines are running like they should. If something breaks down, it’s a bit of a scramble to get it fixed. We aren't big on corporate meetings or formal dress codes here. Most of us are in old t-shirts because it gets hot in the workshop. We just focus on making the items and getting them out the door. The space is a bit cluttered, but we know where everything is, mostly. Sometimes we have to move stacks of boxes just to get to the back of the room. It’s a very hands-on kind of business. We don't spend much time on the computer unless we're checking orders. It’s just about the daily grind of making things in the middle of a busy city.
