Actual Fashion Clothing

If you come down to Rey Road and look for Amit Industries, you’ll find us in unit 309. Actual Fashion Clothing is basically a workshop where we deal with the gritty side of the clothing business. Being near the railway line means you can hear the trains passing by all the time, which is something we’ve just gotten used to. The unit is full of heavy racks and industrial sewing machines that make a lot of noise. We don't have air conditioning, so we rely on big ceiling fans to keep the air moving while we work. It’s a very hands-on environment where everyone is expected to help with the packing and the loading. We spend our days checking the seams on garments and making sure the zippers don't catch. The Amit Industries building is a busy place with a lot of other businesses, so the loading dock is always a bit of a fight to use. We don't bother with a fancy reception area because most of the people coming here are delivery drivers or suppliers. Our desks are cluttered with fabric swatches and half-empty water bottles. It’s a tough, physical job and we often go home with tired backs. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a polished image; we just want to get the clothing finished and out the door so we can start on the next batch.
