Aarogyam - Farmers' Initiatives For Organic Foods

Aarogyam is based out of 301, Pallavi Chs, which is in the Tata Colony area on Navghar Road in Mulund East. It’s actually an apartment building, so it’s not your typical commercial warehouse or anything. We work from here to stay connected with the farmers' initiatives. Most of what we do involves a lot of coordinating. You’ll see bags of organic grains or boxes of produce being moved in and out of the building. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze sometimes in the elevator, but we make it work. The residents in Pallavi Chs are used to us by now. We spend most of our time talking to the farmers and then finding people who want the food they grow. It feels more like a community project than a big corporation. There’s usually someone drinking tea and looking over a list of names. We don't have a big marketing team, it’s just us answering the phone and writing down orders on pads of paper. Mulund East is a good place to be, it feels like a real neighborhood. We like that our work helps people get better food directly from the source. It’s a lot of small steps, but we’ve been doing it this way for a while. It’s just a simple office in a colony where we try to do something useful every single day.
