A1 Dry Fruit is a small shop located on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road at number 533. The street is always jammed with cars and people walking to the station, so there is a constant hum of traffic. We spend most of the day filling bags with different things like cashews, almonds, and raisins. The smell of the roasted nuts is the first thing you notice when you walk inside. We keep the bins full and try to make sure everything looks decent on the shelves for anyone who stops by. It’s a lot of lifting heavy sacks when the new stock arrives at the door. My hands usually feel a bit dusty from the nut shells by the end of a long shift. We get all sorts of people coming in, some just want a small handful of snacks for their train ride and others are buying many kilos for a big wedding or a family party. The light in the shop isn't the brightest, but it works fine for what we need. We have an old scale that we use all the time to get the weight right. Sometimes the fans just move the warm air around, but we’re used to it by now. The road outside is never really quiet, even late in the evening when we are closing up. We spend a lot of time sweeping the floor because bits of shell and dust get everywhere quite easily. It’s just a few of us here most days. We don't do much fancy stuff, just sell what we have and keep the place running. It gets really busy during the festival seasons, and then it’s just non-stop weighing and bagging until late at night.
