A. K. Exports, Mumbai

A. K. Exports, Mumbai is based on the first floor of Shivmahal, in room 206/2. It is a very busy spot in the city. We do a lot of exporting work from this relatively small office. It can get a bit loud with all the Mumbai traffic and horns honking outside, but we have gotten used to it by now. There are usually stacks of boxes and folders everywhere you look inside the room. We aren't the type of people to have a sleek or modern office with glass walls. It feels more like a lived-in workspace where actual things get done every day. We spend most of our hours either on the phone or checking through emails about various shipments. Every now and then, things get a bit chaotic when a shipment is running late, but that's just a normal part of this business. We have a few desks and a tea kettle that seems to be always running in the corner. People come in and out for signatures and pickups throughout the day. We’ve stayed in Shivmahal because it is a familiar place for us and for our regular clients. We don't put on any airs about being some major global corporation. We are just a local team handling international trade from a simple first-floor office. Sometimes the air conditioner struggles with the Mumbai heat, but we just keep working through it. It is just a job for us and we take it one day at a time.
