Sonu Sudh Bhojnalaya

Down in Kanker Khera in Meerut, you’ll find us near the old Natraj Cinema. The market area there is always full of people. Our bhojnalaya is a simple place for a meal. We don't use onions or garlic in everything because it's a sudh place. The kitchen is simple with big pots for the dal and vegetables. Kankerkhera is an old part of town. The building we are in is also quite old. We have wooden tables that have seen a lot of use. People come in after a movie or just while they are shopping in the market. It gets very hot in Meerut during the summer, so the fans are always on full speed. We spend a lot of time sitting on the benches when there are no customers. Then it gets busy and we are running around. We wash the floors every afternoon when the sun is high. The market noise is always there in the background. We don't have fancy menus, just what is made for the day. It’s a very honest way to live. We see the same faces every week. Some people have been coming here since they were kids. We just keep the food simple and the place clean enough for a meal. It is a long day from morning until we close late at night. We just do what we can to keep the place running smoothly for everyone who comes in.
