Pappy Dhaba

Down on Delhi Road in Meerut, right opposite Metro Plaza and near the old Baghpat stand, is where you’ll find us. It’s a spot that stays busy because of all the people traveling back and forth. You can always hear the buses pulling in and out nearby. Our dhaba at 265 Delhi Road is just a regular place where we spend our days. We don't have much time for sitting around. From the moment we open, there is tea to be made and vegetables to be cut. The kitchen stays hot and the staff is always moving. We have some regulars who have been coming here since we first started. They usually sit in the same spots every single time. We don't have any fancy signs or big advertisements. People just find us because we’ve been here so long. Sometimes the sink gets clogged or the front door squeaks, but we just fix it when we can. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so we all pitch in with the washing up and the serving. It's not a corporate business with rules and manuals. We just do things the way they’ve always been done. If you're looking for a quiet, polished restaurant, this probably isn't it. But if you want a place that’s been around the block, we are here. The floor tiles are mismatched in the corner but nobody seems to mind much. We just keep the water boiling and the fires going.
