We are the Kharagpur Janabikash Farmers Producer Company Limited. Our home base is in the village of Charkaboni, which also serves as our post office area here in West Medinipur. The pin code is 721513. We are a collection of farmers from the Kharagpur block and the surrounding areas. We don't have a fancy glass office or air conditioning. Most of our meetings happen in the village under a tree or in someone’s front yard when the sun isn't too hot. We focus on the things that matter to us, like getting decent seeds and making sure we can sell our harvests without getting cheated by middlemen. It’s a very local thing. Everyone knows everyone else, so there’s no need for formal introductions or any kind of corporate attitude. We deal with the daily grind of farming in Midnapore, which means lots of sun, lots of rain, and plenty of mud. The company is our way of organizing so we can buy things in bulk and maybe save some money for the next season. We don't spend time writing mission statements or setting vision goals. We just want to make sure the farming stays profitable enough to feed our families and keep the village going. It’s hard work, and there are always problems to solve with the crops or the water, but that’s just how it is. We’re just regular people from Charkaboni doing our best with the land we have.
