Uthkrushak Farmers Producer Company Limited is based right here in Fakirpur. Most of us are from around Aanandapur and we’ve been working these fields for as long as anyone can remember. We decided to start this group because farming on your own is getting harder every year. It isn't anything fancy. We don't have a big office with air conditioning or secretary people. It is just a bunch of us sitting around and talking about how to get our crops to market without losing money. The weather in Fakirpur can be pretty rough sometimes. Last season was a bit of a mess with the rain, but we managed to get through it because we were helping each other out. That is really what this whole thing is about. We called it Uthkrushak Farmers Producer Company Limited because it sounded official for the paperwork we have to file. But in the village, we are just the same people you see every day at the tea shop or in the fields. We don't have a lot of big plans to take over the world. We just want to make sure our families are okay and the land stays healthy. Some days we spend more time fixing old tools than actually planting, but that’s just how it goes. It’s a lot of work and we make mistakes with the forms and the dates sometimes. We are just local folks trying to do something decent together in Aanandapur. It’s honest work and we take it one day at a time.
