St Thomas Vidayalayam Matriculation School

Over on Sultan Battery Road in the Urwa area of Mangalore, you’ll see St Thomas Vidayalayam Matriculation School. It’s a familiar sight for anyone who lives around here. The school follows the matriculation system, which is what most parents in the neighborhood look for. The building itself is older, with that solid feel you get from buildings that have been around for some time. We have a playground area where the kids run around during the intervals, though it’s not huge. The salt air from being relatively close to the coast sometimes makes the paint peel a bit faster than we’d like, but we keep up with it as best as we can. It’s a local school through and through. Most of our staff live within a few kilometers and have been with us for years. The kids come from the surrounding streets, many of them walking to school with their bags. We have our daily assemblies and the usual school events, nothing too over the top. It’s just a place where the community brings their children to learn their basics. We don't have a big marketing team; we just focus on the daily lessons and making sure the kids are where they need to be.
