Our school is in the Narayan Das Building, right in the middle of School Bazar in Mandi. It is an old part of town and the streets are quite narrow around here. You can really feel the history of Mandi when you walk around this neighborhood. The building itself has been around for a long time. We use several rooms for the classes. It is not a modern campus with a huge field, but it is right in the heart of the community where people live. Being in School Bazar means we are surrounded by other shops and houses. In the mornings, you see students navigating the busy lanes to reach our entrance. The air in Mandi can be quite crisp, especially in the winter months. Inside the building, the hallways are a bit dark, but the classrooms are okay once you get the lights on. We have wooden desks and blackboards. It is a very traditional setup for a school. We do not have much fancy technology in the rooms, just the basics that we need to teach. The staff room is usually full of books and papers piled up on the tables. We spend a lot of time just keeping things organized in such an old space. You can hear the sounds of the market and people talking outside during the day. It is a very lively place to be. We have been part of the Mandi landscape for many years. It is a simple life for us here at Oak Wood. (257 words)
