The Gopal Mills

You can find The Gopal Mills over in Guru Ki Nagri. We are right near the railway crossing, so we hear the trains going by all the time. The sound of the tracks and the whistles is just something we have grown to live with. Sometimes the gates stay down for a while and the traffic piles up, but that is part of the charm of this location. The mill itself is an old-fashioned kind of place. We do not use much technology for the sake of it; we just use what works. The walls have some marks and the floors are worn down from years of work, but it shows we have been active. Most of the people who work here live nearby, so it feels like a neighborhood spot. We spend our days managing the machines and making sure everything is running as it should. There is always a layer of fine dust on the windows, but nobody really minds. We keep a pot of tea going most of the afternoon. It is not a corporate setup with meetings and suits. It is just a mill where we get our hands dirty and make sure the work gets finished. When the train passes, everything rattles a little bit, and we just keep on working through it. Guru Ki Nagri is a quiet enough place except for that, and we like being part of the community here. It is just regular work for regular people.
