Gopal Krishan Iron Store is right in the heart of Loha Bazar. We are directly opposite Lalji Sweets, which is lucky for us when we want a snack. Being in the iron market means it’s always loud. You hear the sound of cutting and loading all day long. Fatehgarh Sahib is a busy district and this bazar is where all the metal action happens. Our shop is old-fashioned. We have high ceilings and lots of iron stacks reaching up. It’s dark inside even during the day. We don't have fancy lights or displays. People come here because they know we have what they need for their construction or repairs. We deal with all sorts of iron products. It’s a dusty job and our clothes are usually stained by the end of the day. We don't bother with a website. Everything is done with a pen and a notebook. We’ve known the guys at the sweet shop across the street for decades. Sometimes we sit out front on wooden benches when it’s not too busy. It’s a traditional way of doing business. We don't use any marketing tricks or flyers. We just show the customer the material and tell them the price. That’s how it’s always been done in Loha Bazar. We’ve been here since my uncle started the place, and not much has changed since then.
