P. D. Steels

Our yard is at D-44 on Railway Road. It’s a gritty part of town where there is always a bit of iron dust in the air. P. D. Steels is not a place for someone who minds getting their hands dirty. We deal with heavy stuff all day. The sound of metal hitting metal is basically our background music. We have a small office at the front, but most of the action happens out in the open or under the high roof. We keep a close eye on the stock coming in and going out. It is a lot of physical work, loading and unloading. Sometimes the rain makes everything slippery and difficult, but we just push through it. We don't have a big corporate structure here. There is the owner, a few guys in the yard, and someone to handle the books. We eat our lunch together sitting on crates or whatever is handy. The Railway Road traffic is constant, but you stop hearing the trucks after a few months of working here. We have some regular customers who have been buying from us since we first opened this gate. They know they can just pull up and we will help them find what they need. It’s a straightforward business. We don't use big words or try to act like we are something we aren't. We just provide the steel.
