Out in Mahoba, in the village of Umrai, we have Umrai Jankisan Farmer Producer Companylimited. Our spot is at house number 48, near the Umrai post. Mahoba is a tough place for farming sometimes because of the heat and the water, but we make it work. We are just a group of local farmers who wanted to help each other out. This company is how we organize our efforts. We aren't some big business from the city. We are the same people you see at the local market every week. The 210429 area is our home. We spend a lot of time talking about the soil and what crops will survive the next dry spell. The office is small and usually has a few sacks of grain or tools sitting in the corner. We don't use a lot of fancy words. We just talk about what needs to be done today. Whether it is getting better seeds or finding a fair price for the harvest, we do it together. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy. We started this because we knew that if we stuck together, we could handle the ups and downs of farming better. It’s just us, the folks from Gram Umrai, trying to keep the farms going and our families fed. We don't have a glossy brochure or anything like that. We just have our word and the work we do out in the fields every day. If you come by, you'll see we are just regular people doing our best.
