Upkar Mechanical Works sits right near Bhagwan Chowk on the 1st Main Road. It’s a pretty lively spot in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Colony, especially when the morning traffic starts picking up. Our shop at 2410 is usually the first one to have the shutters up. It’s not a very big space, but we have crammed a lot of machinery in here over the years. You’ll mostly find us hunched over a workbench or trying to get a stubborn motor to turn over. The walls are covered in old calendars and wrenches that have seen better days. We don’t have a sales team or a front desk. If you walk in, you’re talking to the same person who’s going to be fixing your parts. It gets dusty because of all the construction nearby, so we spend a lot of time just wiping things down so we can see what we’re doing. We do a lot of mechanical repairs and some fabrication when people ask for it. It’s honest work, even if the hours get long when a big order comes in. We usually grab lunch from the stall down the street and eat while looking at the blueprints. It’s just the way things are done around here. We’ve been at this location for a long time, and the locals know us as the guys who don't mind getting dirty to get a machine running again.
