Karimpura Bazar is always a bit of a chaotic place to work, but we’ve made our home here at 1730 Janta Nagar. If you’ve ever walked through the market, you know how packed it gets. Getting parts delivered to the door is always an adventure because of the narrow streets and all the people. We’ve been doing mechanical work here for a long time. The shop is filled with the smell of old iron and machine oil. We don't have much in the way of air conditioning, so the big doors stay open most of the year. You hear the sounds of the bazar all day—vendors calling out, bikes zooming past, and the general chatter of the crowd. Inside the shop, we’re focused on the metal. We’ve got some old machines that still run better than the new ones if you treat them right. We spend a lot of time cleaning threads and wiping grease off our hands. It’s not the kind of job where you wear a suit. We wear old clothes that we don't mind getting ruined by the work. Every day is a bit different depending on what comes in for repair. Some jobs take an hour and some take three days of scratching our heads and trying different things. We just stay at it until it’s finished and ready. It’s a busy life in a busy part of the city, but we like it that way.
