We are set up at 2802 Gill Connaught Place on Mangaldas Road. It’s an older building, but it works for what we do here. D S Lotey Mechanical Works has been in this spot for a while, and the neighborhood has changed around us quite a bit. Inside the shop, it’s mostly just rows of machines and workbenches. We don’t have a fancy waiting room or air conditioning in the main work area, so it gets a bit warm in the summer months. Most of the guys here have been with us for a long time and they know their way around the mechanical parts we handle. We take on all sorts of repair jobs and custom work. Some days we are waiting on parts to arrive, and other days we have more work than we can handle. It’s a bit of a balancing act. The office part is small and mostly filled with old files and blueprints. We prefer to be out on the floor anyway. People know us by the name on the door and they usually just drop by when they need something fixed. Mangaldas Road can get a lot of traffic, making parking a bit of a headache sometimes, but we manage. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in town, just a reliable one where the work gets done properly. It’s a straightforward business, no frills or extras, just mechanical labor and keeping things running. We don't have a marketing budget, just the daily work.
