Our shop is located at B-Xix/397 on Rani Jansi Road, which is right near Khalsa College for Women. It is a very busy part of town, especially when the college students are out and about in the afternoons. Sant Ram Mangat Ram Jewellers has been a part of this landscape for quite some time now. The street outside is usually crowded with cars and rickshaws, but inside it is a bit calmer. We have the usual glass counters and stools for people to sit on while they look at different pieces. It is a family-run kind of atmosphere, so things aren’t overly formal or stiff. We spend a lot of time cleaning the glass and making sure everything is in its right place. During the wedding season, things get a lot more hectic and we find ourselves staying late quite often to finish up. We have a back room where we do some of the smaller repairs or adjustments. The lighting in the shop is very bright so people can see what they are buying clearly. We do not do a lot of big advertising; people usually find us because they live nearby or their parents used to come here years ago. It is a practical way to run a business. We just open up in the morning, serve whoever walks through the door, and try to keep things honest. That is just how we do it.
