If you walk down toward 2410 Gill Shaheed Karnail Singh Nagar, you will find our shop. S D Mechanical Works isn't hard to spot once you get onto this side of town. It’s a busy street and there is always something going on right outside our door. We spend most of our time hunched over parts or trying to get a stubborn motor to turn over. The walls inside are lined with shelves that have seen better days, piled high with bits and pieces we might need someday. We don’t really have a big staff, just a few of us who know our way around a toolbox. The lighting isn't the best in the back, so we rely a lot on the sunlight coming through the front entrance. Usually, there is a half-finished cup of tea sitting on a workbench somewhere. People around here stop by just to say hello or ask if we can take a quick look at something that broke. We try to help out when we can, even if we are in the middle of a big job. The floor gets oily and we use a lot of rags, but that is just part of the trade. It gets quiet in the evenings after the shops around us close, and that is usually when we get the most paperwork done. It’s a simple life, focused on fixing things and making sure the work is solid before it leaves the shop.
