Our place is at A-4 Focal Point. It’s a straightforward setup where we teach people about machine tools and how to use them properly. The Institute For Machine Tools Technology isn't like a regular school with quiet classrooms. Here, there is always the sound of someone learning to operate a machine or the clinking of tools being set down. We have different areas for different types of equipment. It’s a hands-on kind of place. Most of the people who come here are looking to learn a trade or improve their skills so they can get better jobs in the factories around Focal Point. We don't use big words or complicated theories. We just show how it’s done and let people try it for themselves until they get it right. The floors are concrete and we have big windows to let in the light. It gets a bit cold in the winter and dusty in the summer, but that’s the reality of working in an industrial zone like this. We are right in the middle of all the action, so students can see exactly where their skills will be used. We take our work seriously because knowing how to handle these machines is important for safety and for getting things made correctly. It’s a practical environment for people who want to work with their hands and build something useful.
