Drishti School

Drishti School is located out on the Pakhowal Dehlon Road, near Narangwal and Delhon. It’s a bit of a drive from the main part of Ludhiana, so things are a little more open out here. You can see the fields nearby, and the air feels a bit different than it does in the middle of the city. The full name is a bit of a mouthful, so we usually just call it Drishti. It’s a big building, and we have plenty of room, which is nice. Most of our days start with the school buses pulling in. We have a lot of kids coming from the surrounding villages and the edge of the city. It’s a busy place once everyone arrives. We don't have a lot of modern frills. The classrooms are basic, with desks that have seen a lot of use. We spend our time making sure the lessons are done and the kids are staying out of trouble. In the winter, the fog can be so thick you can barely see the gate from the front door. We just turn on the lights and get on with things. The staff is mostly local, people who know the area well. We aren't trying to be anything we aren't. It’s just a school where we show up, do the teaching, and go home. There’s always a bit of dust because of the roads nearby, but we just keep sweeping it out and getting ready.
