Std Brick Field

If you go down toward Bakshi Ka Talab, you’ll find the Std Brick Field. We are located right near the Tehsil office in the district. It’s a large open space where we keep the kilns going and the bricks drying. Being near the Tehsil means there’s a lot of official traffic, but once you step into our field, it’s all about the earth and the fire. I’ve spent many years here, watching the smoke rise and the stacks grow tall. It’s not the kind of job where you wear a suit. We are usually covered in soot and red dirt by the end of the shift. The location is practical for getting trucks in and out to the main roads. We don’t spend money on billboards or radio ads. Most people just see the stacks from the road or hear about us from a neighbor who built a house last year. The weather is our biggest boss; if it rains too much, we have to stop everything and cover the unburnt bricks. It’s a constant battle with the elements. We keep our operation simple and don't try to be anything we aren't. We just run Std Brick Field the way we were taught, focusing on the day-to-day grind. It’s a tough life, but there’s something about seeing a finished batch come out of the kiln that makes it worth the sweat and the long hours. We just stay here near the Talab and keep working.
