Shyam Brick Field

Shyam Brick Field is out in Banmau, which is near Parbatpur. We fall under the Suratganj Block in Tehsil Fatehpur. It’s a rural area with lots of open space, which is perfect for a brick field. We have been working this land for a while. The work involves a lot of digging and hauling. It isn't a clean job, and we don't pretend it is. We are usually covered in mud or dust by the end of the day. There are no fancy signs or big billboards for us. If you want to find us, you just head toward Parbatpur and look for the tall chimney. We don't have a formal office building, just a small shed where we keep the records and take our tea breaks. The pace here is dictated by the seasons. We work hard before the monsoon starts because everything has to stop once the rain hits. It’s just us and a few workers from the nearby villages. We don't use complicated technology; it’s mostly just the traditional way of making bricks. People from around Fatehpur know us, and that’s usually how we get our business. We don't have any big missions or goals other than making sure the bricks come out right and we can sell them to the local builders. It is a tough way to make a living, but it is what we know how to do here.
