You can find us at Bara Birva on Kanpur Road. Shivam Marble Maheshwari Granite is a bit of a mouthful, but we just focus on the stone. Being on Kanpur Road means there’s always a lot of dust and noise from the passing trucks. We have a lot of space here to keep the big granite blocks. It’s mostly an outdoor setup, so we deal with the sun and the wind every day. We’ve got stacks of marble piled up, and we spend a lot of our time reorganizing them. Moving these slabs requires a bit of muscle and some steady hands. We don't have a glossy showroom with air conditioning. It’s just the yard and the stone. People drive out here because they want to see the full slabs before they buy. It’s different seeing a small sample versus a six-foot piece of granite. We talk to a lot of builders and masons who know exactly what they’re looking for. We also get families who are a bit overwhelmed by all the choices. We just let them walk around and look at the patterns. Sometimes the stone has natural spots or lines that people either love or hate. We just show it as it is. It’s a lot of work keeping everything clean, or as clean as a stone yard can be. We stay open late most days to finish up the deliveries. That's just the life on Kanpur Road for us.
