Out here in Shelgaon, things are pretty quiet most of the time. We set up Malleshwar Agro Producer Company Limited right at Santoshkumar Nanasaheb Patil’s place because that’s where everyone usually meets up anyway. It’s not like those big companies you see in the city with glass buildings and fancy lobbies. We are just a bunch of folks from Chakur and the surrounding parts of Latur trying to figure out how to make the farming business work a bit better for us. My name is one of the ones on the paperwork, but really, it’s just about the guys who bring their crops in. We deal with whatever the season brings, whether it’s pulses or whatever else is growing in the fields around here. The office is really just a room with some chairs and a lot of registers. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit outside and talk about the rain or the lack of it. It’s honest work, even if it’s a bit messy sometimes with all the hauling and moving of bags. Santoshkumar’s house is easy to find if you know the village of Shelgaon. We don’t have fancy brochures or anything like that. People just stop by when they need to talk about seeds or selling their harvest. It gets dusty, and in the summer, it’s incredibly hot, but this is home and this is where we do our business every day without much fuss or bother.
