You can find Chandarrao Barge Agro Producer Company Limited over in Sakol village, which is part of Nilanga in the Latur district. We operate out of Kalyanrao Chandarrao Barge’s house. Sakol is a typical village where everyone knows each other’s business, so we don't really need a big sign out front. We’re focused on helping the local farmers with their crops and making sure we can get things sold for a fair price. Latur is famous for its agriculture, but it’s a tough place to farm because of the water situation most years. We spend a lot of time discussing how to manage the fields when the rain is late. The office is basically a room with some chairs and a desk where we keep our registers. People drop by at all hours, sometimes just to ask for advice or to see what’s happening with the company. It’s a very informal way of doing business, but it works for us. We don't have a marketing department or any sales people. We just rely on the fact that the Barge family has been here for a long time and people trust the name. Most of our day is spent talking to people or heading out to the fields to see how the soy or dal is growing. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s important work for our community in Nilanga. We just keep our heads down and get the work done.
