Gokuldas Banbhdai Government School

Gokuldas Banbhdai Government School is right on Layja Road in Mandvi. If you know the area, you know it can get pretty dusty when the wind picks up from the coast. The school building has been here for quite some time now, and it shows in some of the cracks on the walls and the way the doors creak. We don't have anything fancy going on here. It’s just a regular government school where the kids from the neighborhood come to spend their mornings and afternoons. Most of us on the staff have been working here for years, so we know most of the families around Mandvi. The classrooms are basic, just desks, benches, and a blackboard that has seen better days. During the monsoon, we sometimes have to move the kids around because of leaks in the roof, but we manage. It’s not a perfect place, but it’s where the work gets done. We spend a lot of time on paperwork and making sure the registers are filled out correctly. The playground isn't much to look at, just a patch of ground where the grass struggles to grow in the heat. In the summer, it gets really hot, and the ceiling fans just sort of move the warm air around. We just keep going, day after day, trying to help the students get through their exams. It is just a local school doing its thing. We aren't trying to be fancy, we just show up and do the work that needs doing every day.
