D A V Public School is situated over at Plot No 1, Ward 6-A in the Adipur area of Gandhidham. The location is pretty quiet compared to the main market areas, which is nice for the students when they are trying to study. We have been sitting on this corner for quite some time now, and most people in the neighborhood use us as a reference point when they are giving directions to visitors. The building itself is a solid structure with a big courtyard where the kids gather for assembly every morning. The Gandhidham weather can be quite harsh, very dry and windy most of the year, so we are always dusting off the windows and the wooden desks. It is a constant battle with the sand. Inside, the hallways are wide, and we have enough rooms to keep everyone separated by grade level. The staff room is usually a mess of papers and tea cups, especially during the middle of exam season. We have a simple metal gate at the entrance and a small garden that we try to keep green, though the local climate makes that difficult. Parents usually walk their kids to the gate or drop them off on bicycles before heading to work. It is a very local school, nothing too flashy or modern. We just have our daily routine of lessons, lunch breaks, and the final bell. Everything is organized in a way that just makes sense for the life here.
