Whats Cooking

We set up this place on Alipore Road, right opposite the Horticulture Gardens. If you know Kolkata, you know this part of Alipore is quite green and usually a bit quieter than the rest of the city. We’ve been here at number 3 for a while now. The kitchen is the heart of what we do, and it’s usually quite a mess of steam and noise during the peak hours. We don’t have a lot of decorative stuff on the walls or fancy lighting. It’s more about the actual work happening in the back. Our staff is just a few local people who know their way around a stove. We get a lot of people who come by after visiting the gardens or folks who live in the apartments around here. We don't really do much in the way of advertising or social media stuff. Most people just hear about us from their neighbors or walk in because they were passing by. Sometimes we run out of certain dishes early if it's a busy Saturday. We don't try to hide the fact that we're a small operation. It’s just us trying to make decent food every day without any extra drama. The windows look out onto the street, and we like watching the world go by while we work. It’s a steady, simple life here in Alipore, and we’re happy to be a part of it.
