Gourmet Kitchen

We are Gourmet Kitchen, tucked away at 26/A on Sree Mohan Lane in Kolkata, zip code 700026. It’s a narrow lane, and if you aren't looking closely, you might miss us. We aren't a big restaurant with waitstaff and menus in leather folders. It’s more of a place where we cook a lot of food and send it out. The kitchen is always hot and someone is usually chopping onions or washing dishes. It gets a bit chaotic around lunchtime when the orders start coming in fast. We’ve been in this part of Kolkata for a while, and the neighbors are used to the smell of spices coming from our windows. We don't have a fancy dining room with air conditioning. It’s a working kitchen through and through. The floor is tile and we have big pots bubbling on the stove most of the day. We are just regular people who like to cook and feed others. We don't use any secret ingredients or have some corporate philosophy. We just try to make food that tastes like it came from a home. Sometimes we run out of things early if it’s a busy day, and we have to tell people to come back tomorrow. That’s just how we run things here on Sree Mohan Lane. It’s honest work and we are happy to be doing it in this city. We started with just a few burners and now we have a whole line of stoves going from morning until the sun goes down.
