Usha Martin Ltd.

Over in Lake Town, specifically Block-A at number 146, is where we handle things for Usha Martin in this part of Kolkata. Lake Town is a pretty well-known area, and being here puts us close to a lot of the local action. The office is on a street that gets quite a bit of foot traffic. It’s not a massive building, just a standard spot that we’ve converted into our working area. Inside, it’s mostly just us and our computers. We deal with a lot of inquiries about wire ropes and industrial cables. Since it’s Kolkata, the weather is often humid, so we keep the windows open or the fans on full blast. We don’t have a big corporate lobby with a receptionist. You just walk in and you’re pretty much in the middle of where we work. We spend our time talking to suppliers and making sure the local deliveries are on track. Sometimes things get a little chaotic when several orders come in at once, but we manage. We aren’t interested in being flashy. We just want to make sure the customers get their supplies so they can finish their own jobs. It’s a very straightforward environment. We’ve been here long enough that the local tea seller knows exactly how we like our drinks. It’s just a normal day-to-day operation for us and we like keeping it that way.
