This Usha Martin Ltd. branch is the Alloys and Steel Divn., and we are based in Salt Lake, Kolkata. Our address is AB 123, which is in a pretty well-known part of the city. Salt Lake is a bit more organized than the rest of Kolkata, with its blocks and sectors, but our office still feels very down-to-earth. We aren't in one of those massive glass towers. It is a more modest building in the AB block of 700 064 in India. Inside, it is mostly people sitting at desks with heaps of documents about steel and alloys. We spend a lot of time on the computer or talking to the plant. It’s a busy environment but we try to keep it relaxed. We don't have a corporate handbook for how to talk; we just speak like normal people. The weather in West Bengal is usually hot, so the AC is always running, and there’s always a jar of biscuits somewhere. We handle the paperwork and the distribution. It is just a regular job for us. We don't have any fancy mission statements or slogans about being leaders. We just try to get the numbers right and make sure the orders are processed without too much trouble. It is a practical office for a practical industry. We just come in, do the work, and head back out into the Kolkata traffic at the end of the day.
