Our location is at 42F, Bedia Danga 2nd Lane, inside the Heera Apartment. We are on the 1st floor in Flat No. 3, right in the New Ballygunge area of Kolkata. It’s a typical Kolkata neighborhood with narrow lanes and buildings standing close to each other. Being Tata Steels Ltd. in this setting is quite interesting because you wouldn't expect a steel company to be running out of a residential flat like this. But it works for us. It’s a busy little spot, and the lane can get quite blocked if a big vehicle tries to come through. Inside the flat, things are pretty cramped with all the files and desks we’ve managed to fit in. We don't have any air conditioning in the main areas, so the ceiling fans are always spinning at top speed to beat the Kolkata humidity. The staff here knows the local tea stall owner by name, and we usually get our snacks from the shop around the corner. It’s a very community-oriented way of working. There is no corporate lobby or security guard at the front; you just ring the bell and come up to the first floor. We handle a lot of the local paperwork and regional coordination from here. It’s an old-school way of doing business, but it’s honest and it keeps us connected to the city. We aren't trying to be anything we aren't; we are just a small, busy office.
