Suswadu Caterer

Our kitchen is based at C/17 in Bhagajatin Park, over in the Panchsayer area. We aren't a restaurant where you can come and sit down for a meal. Instead, we spend our time preparing food for parties, weddings, and local gatherings around this part of Kolkata. The space is mostly filled with large pots, giant stoves, and crates of vegetables. It can get pretty messy when we have a big order for a hundred people, but we always get it sorted out by the time the delivery van arrives. We have a small team of cooks who have been with us for years. We don't really have a front office or a receptionist. If you want to talk to us, you usually have to come to the back where the cooking happens. It’s hard work, especially during the wedding season when we are working through the night to get everything ready. We focus on the basics of catering, like making sure the food stays hot and arrives on time. Sometimes things go wrong, like a supplier being late with the rice, but we always find a way to make it work. We are just local people who know how to cook for a crowd. We don't use any fancy marketing tricks. Word of mouth in Panchsayer has been enough to keep us busy for a long time now, and we like it that way.
