Srei Bnp Paribas is based at Plot Y 10, Block-Ep, in Sector-V of Salt Lake City. If you know Kolkata, you know Sector-V is where all the business happens. It’s a forest of concrete and glass, but our bit of it feels a bit more settled. We handle finance and equipment matters from this office. It’s a lot of paperwork and digital records, so the desks are usually piled with files. We aren't one of those places with a minimalist look. It looks like people actually work here. The humidity in Kolkata can be pretty intense, so the office is our refuge from the weather outside. We have a lot of people coming in and out, so it stays fairly busy. The staff here has been around for years, and we have our own way of doing things. We don't follow all those new-age corporate trends. We just focus on the contracts and the numbers. Lunchtime is usually when the office gets a bit lively with everyone sharing their food. Outside, the street food stalls are always crowded, and some of us go down for a quick tea. It’s a busy environment but we keep things simple. We don't have a big mission statement on the wall; we just try to process the work that comes across our desks every day without making too much of a fuss.
