Soniyas Family Saloon

We are located in Sarada Complex on N G Basak Road in Kolkata. If you know the Maharaja Bar and Restaurant, we are right across from that place. It’s a small shop with a few chairs and big mirrors that have been there since we opened. We get a lot of people from the neighborhood coming in for a quick haircut or a shave. The fan on the ceiling wobbles a bit when it's on high speed, but it keeps the air moving during the hot afternoons. We don't have any fancy signs or big lights outside. It’s just a simple saloon for the family. Sometimes kids come in and they’re scared of the clippers, so we have to go slow. My brother and I run the place most days. We drink a lot of tea from the stall at the corner of the complex. The floor is mostly covered in hair by midday because we stay busy. It's a noisy part of town with all the traffic going towards the main road. We see the same regulars every two weeks. It's just a normal way to earn a living. We don't do anything too complicated here. People know what they want and we just get to it. The Sarada Complex is old but it's home to us. We keep our tools clean and our towels washed. That's about it really. It is just a local spot for a haircut.
