Apanjan Hair Cutting Saloon

Apanjan Hair Cutting Saloon is located right by Barwaritala in Dum Dum. We’re close to Jessore Road, so there is always a lot of traffic and people moving about. Kolkata is a crowded city, and this area is no different. Our shop is small, with barely enough room for three people to wait comfortably. We have a couple of wooden benches that have been here since we opened. The mirrors are a bit cloudy at the edges, but you can still see yourself well enough. We don't do anything flashy. It’s just haircuts and shaves for the local men and boys. On rainy days, the smell of damp earth comes in from the street, and we have to keep the door shut so the water doesn't spray inside. We’ve got a small television that mostly stays on the news channels. It’s not a quiet place, but it feels right to us. We know the shopkeepers nearby and often share a smoke or a quick chat during the slow hours. Life moves fast on Jessore Road, but inside here, things feel a bit slower. We don't have fancy signs or bright lights. Just the name on a board outside that’s starting to fade a little bit. We open early in the morning and stay until the last customer is done at night. That’s how it is here in Dum Dum.
