Smariti Caterer

We operate Smariti Caterer out of 49 Jhowtala Rd in the Ballygunge area. It’s a part of Kolkata that has a lot of history and narrow streets. Our work is a bit different from a restaurant because we mostly focus on catering. This means we spend a lot of time packing up big containers of food and loading them into vans. The 700019 neighborhood is where we’ve set up our base. It’s a busy place with lots of houses and small businesses packed together. We don’t have a dining room for people to sit in; it’s all about the kitchen and the prep tables. We’re often up very late or very early depending on when the food needs to be delivered. The smell of spices and cooked rice usually fills the air around our building on Jhowtala Rd. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there. We’re just a local business doing what we know how to do. Sometimes the orders are big and sometimes they are small, but the work is always the same. We have to be careful with the timing so the food stays fresh. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and moving things around. We’ve been in Ballygunge for a long time and the people around here know us. We just keep our heads down and get the cooking done for whoever needs it.
