Shantas Kitchen

If you come down to M 157 in Baishnabghata, you’ll find us in the kitchen. Shantas Kitchen has been around Patuli for a bit now, and it’s mostly just a place where things are always cooking. The smell of spices is pretty much stuck in the walls at this point. It’s not a big corporate setup with uniforms and manuals; it’s more about the pots and pans and making sure the food is ready on time. We spend most of our mornings chopping vegetables and getting the stoves going. The area around Panchsayer is usually quite busy, so there’s always noise coming in from the street while we work. We have a few people helping out, and we all know each other well enough that we don’t need to say much to get the work done. Sometimes the floor gets a bit slippery when we’re in a rush, and the heat from the burners can get pretty intense during the summer months. We don’t really do fancy plating or anything, just honest food that people seem to want. It's a lot of hard work standing on your feet all day, but that's just how a kitchen is. We’re just a small part of the neighborhood here, tucked away at this address, doing our thing day in and day out without making a big deal out of it. It’s just how we live our lives and run our small business.
