Shankar Saloon

Shankar Saloon is located on Insinetor Road in the 700028 area of Kolkata. We are very close to the local Thana, so there are always police vehicles and many people moving around the police station nearby. The shop itself is small and has been here for a very long time. We have the old-fashioned wooden cabinets where we keep our razors, brushes, and the combs. The scissors we use are heavy metal ones and they have been sharpened many times over the years. We don't have any air conditioning here, just the open front door and a small table fan that moves back and forth. The walls have some old calendars and a few pictures hanging on them. Most of our regular customers are people who have lived on Insinetor Road their whole lives. They come in and we don't even have to ask them what they want because we already know their style. It’s a quiet life for the most part, despite being so close to the Thana. We have a small sink at the back for washing hair, but it’s quite old and the tap drips a little bit into the basin. We keep a plastic bucket under it just in case. The floor is plain concrete and we sweep it every time a customer leaves the chair. We don't have any extra staff, just the owners who work here every single day.
