Saha Caterer

I’ve lived around Lake Gardens for a long time, and being at Saha Caterer at the Super Market is just part of the daily routine now. We are right near the Canara Bank, so we see the same people going in and out to do their banking every single day. Kolkata is a city that loves food, so being in the catering business means we are always on the move. It’s not just about cooking; it’s about the logistics of getting large pots of food through these narrow streets. Sometimes the rain makes things difficult, but you just put on a plastic sheet and keep going. We don’t have a big polished office or anything like that. It’s more of a practical workspace where we plan out the menus and talk to the cooks. My hands usually smell like spices by the end of the shift. The Super Market area is always buzzing, especially in the mornings when everyone is out buying their groceries. We’ve been here long enough that we don’t need to explain who we are to the neighbors. They know the smell of our kitchen. We just focus on getting the orders right and making sure the delivery happens on time. It's a lot of hard work and standing on your feet, but it’s what we do. It’s an honest living and we take it one day at a time.
