Sadhuka Saloon

Sadhuka Saloon is located at 131, Block A here in Kolkata. We have been in this neighborhood for quite a while now. This isn't one of those high-end places you find in the malls. It’s a local shop where men come to get their hair cut and maybe talk about the latest cricket match. I’ve spent most of my life behind a barber chair. I know the shape of every head in this block by now. The shop is simple. I have the basic tools, a few sharp razors, and some bottles of aftershave that smell like old times. There is a wooden bench for people to sit on while they wait their turn. Sometimes the wait is long on Sunday mornings. People don't seem to mind though. They just chat with each other. I try to keep the place clean, but hair is a difficult thing to manage completely. The light inside isn't the brightest, but I have a good lamp right over the main chair. I don't use a computer for bookings or anything like that. You just walk in and if I’m free, you sit down. It’s worked this way for years and I don't see any reason to change it. My hands are still steady and I like the work. It keeps me connected to the people living in Block A. It is just a quiet corner for a shave and a chat.
