S. Sharma Hardware

S. Sharma Hardware is a small, local shop at Shop 5 in Sarkar Bari. We are located in Jadavgarh Colony, over in the Haltu area. We’ve been here in the neighborhood for quite a few years now. Our shop is the kind of place where you can find anything from a single nail to a gallon of paint. It’s very crowded inside, and I’ve had to hang things from the ceiling just to make more room. We have pipes leaning against the walls and buckets of tools on the floor. It can be hard to move around when there are more than two customers in the store at once. I live nearby, so I usually walk to work every morning. My son helps me out on the weekends when he isn’t at school. We don't have a modern checkout system; we just use a simple paper receipt book and a calculator. I enjoy the rhythm of the day, talking to the people from the colony and helping them find what they need for their home repairs. Sometimes people come in just to ask for advice on how to fix something, and I don’t mind helping out. It’s a friendly place and we like being part of the community here. We close up for a few hours in the afternoon when it’s hot and then open back up until late evening.
