Panchsheel Traders

Panchsheel Traders has been operating out of No. 133 Canning Street for quite a while now. If you go down towards the Jacson Lane side, that’s where you’ll find us. Canning Street is always a whirlwind of activity, and our shop is no different. We are traders, so our space is usually packed with bags, boxes, and whatever else we are dealing with that week. It’s a bit of a maze inside sometimes. We’ve got stacks of inventory that reach almost to the ceiling. We don't have a fancy computer system to track everything; we mostly rely on our own notes and memory. It’s a traditional way of doing things, but it works for us. The building is old and has a lot of character, even if the stairs are a bit narrow and steep. We spend our days talking to suppliers and customers, often over a cup of tea. It’s more about the relationships we’ve built over the years than anything else. We don't do much in the way of promotion. People know we are here and they know what we carry. Some days are incredibly hectic with deliveries coming in and out, and other days we just sit and catch up on the books. It’s a simple life of buying and selling in a part of the city that never seems to sleep. We like the grit and the energy of the street. It’s where we belong and we plan to stay here.
