Ma Durga Hardware Stores is located at 100-A on N.S.C Bose Road. It’s a busy stretch of road, so there’s always something going on outside with the traffic and people passing by. The shop is filled from floor to ceiling with all sorts of hardware items that people need. We have stacks of pipes, boxes of screws, and various tools leaning against the walls in no particular order. It’s a bit cramped inside, but we know our way around the piles and can find things quickly. We don't use any fancy marketing tricks or try to act bigger than we are. People come to us because we are right there on the main road and usually have what they need for their home repairs. Some days are spent just counting the inventory or helping someone pick out the right size of a bolt. We aren't trying to be a big chain store with matching uniforms. We are just a local shop where the owner is usually behind the counter. The air is always a bit dusty from the cement and metal, but we don't really mind. We’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years, but the demand for basic hardware never really goes away. We try to keep our prices fair so people keep coming back when they have a problem. It’s a simple business model for us. We open early, close late, and try to be helpful to anyone who walks in.
