Rupasi Bangla is located at the crossing of Ripon Street and Free School Street, officially Muzaffar Ahmed Street, near Park Street in Kolkata. This is an old part of the city, and the building reflects that history. We aren't trying to be one of those modern cafes you see opening up everywhere. We are a traditional spot where you can get a proper Bengali meal. The area is always crowded with people working in the nearby offices or shoppers coming from Park Street. Inside, it can get a bit cramped when it’s busy, but that’s just how it is in this part of town. We have old fans on the ceiling and wooden chairs that have been around for a long time. The menu is written on a board or just told to you by the servers. We focus on fish curries, rice, and the usual vegetable dishes that people eat at home. The cooks have been in our kitchen for years and they don't change their recipes for anyone. It’s a bit noisy because of the traffic at the crossing outside, but once you start eating, you don't notice it as much. We don't have a marketing department or a social media page. People find us because they live or work nearby, or someone told them about our food. We just try to make sure every plate that leaves the kitchen is worth the money someone is paying for it.
