R K Roadways is located at 36 Kali Krishna Tagore Street, right in the heart of Burrabazar. If you’ve ever been down this street, you know how hectic it gets with all the trucks and handcarts. We’ve been operating from here for quite some time, focusing on road transport. Our day starts early because that’s when the movement happens in the market. We deal with all sorts of goods that need to go out on trucks. It’s a lot of shouting, loading, and making sure the drivers have their papers in order. Our office is just a simple room where we keep the ledgers and take calls. There’s always a bit of dust and noise, but that is just part of being in Burrabazar. We don’t have a fancy website or anything; most people just walk in or call us because they know we are here. It’s a practical business. We worry about things like fuel prices and traffic jams more than anything else. Sometimes the street gets so blocked up that nothing moves for an hour, but we just wait it out and talk to the neighbors. It’s honest work, getting stuff from one side of the country to the other by road. We know our routes and we know our trucks. That is really all there is to it at our place. We just try to stay on schedule as best we can.
